Romans 10:13-15
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

GOD'S Plan of Salvation for YOU!
Romans 10:13

Commentary By: Rev. Dr. Egon Nielsen, D.Div.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

All Scripture verses listed are taken from the King James Authorized Version (1611 AD) of the Bible.

Romans 3:10-12
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

There is no way that any person on earth can say that they are righteous or perfect in every way. If we are to be honest we have to admit to our shortcomings, and that we do not stand right (righteous) in God's eyes. Most people do not seek after God because they do not understand what it's all about. I mean, why bother. Things are just peachy keen in my life, Right? This verse is pretty damning, if you consider that it emphatically states that NOT ONE is doing good. Guess what, that means YOU!

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Now the word sinned, comes from sin. I find that this word is so misunderstood that you most likely really don't know what it means to have sinned. Let's clarify that word SIN! The original Sin, is not sex out of wedlock, as some people believe, but it was when Adam and Eve ate of the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Now why was that a Sin? Because God told them not to! So, SIN is DISOBEDIENCE! In other words, if you are told not to do something, and you do it, you have sinned. Simple isn't it. Your parents tell you to do something and you don't, you've sinned! The Police tell you that's the Law, No speeding, and you do, that's SIN! So for every law that was ever made, if you have broken, even the smallest of them you have SINNED! By the way there is no such thing as a little lie (sin) , or for that matter a big lie (sin). A lie is a Lie! and it's SIN! So if you sin, guess what, you come short of the glory of God! So now that we have established what SIN is, what happens if we do happen to fall into that trap.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Really simple isn't it! Even a child can understand it. If you sin, YOU DIE! Maybe not tomorrow, but eventually you will die, because MANKIND sinned! Blame it all on Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve had eternal life, and were created to fellowship with God. They sinned and were banished from the Garden of Eden and lost their immortality, until such a time that they could be redeemed. BUT God left us a way out. Again so simple that even a child can understand it. God gave us a gift of eternal life. Now when you receive a gift, all you do is reach out and accept it. If you don't accept it, it will still be sitting there waiting for you!

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Your sins can be blotted out or eliminated, by confessing them. Not to a priest, not to your mother or father, but to God and the persons that you have sinned against. Confess means to acknowledge and accept responsibility for the things that you have done, for the disobedience in your life. Not only will God forgive you for the disobedience (sin) he will totally cleanse you from all UNrighteousness. So that you can have a RIGHT standing in God's eyes. Now on the human level, you may find that people may not be so forgiving, but don't worry about them, if you have cleared your conscience with them and they don't forgive you, they will have to answer to God for their disobedience.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

So now that you have confessed your sins (disobedience) you, who have now chosen to be called a Child of God, if you humble yourself, and pray, (which is just talking to God - don't get into a ritualistic liturgy) and then stop doing all the wrong things in your life (disobedience) then God is not only going to forgive you, but he is going to heal, fix and straighten everything out in your life. Now that may not happen overnight, there could be quite a mess that has to be taken care of, involving a multitude of other people. So God is going to have to purge the consequences of all your past actions, through out your lifetime. The older you are the more work He has in store for Him and His angels.

Acts 3:19
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Now we have all seen the Joke placards with the inscription of "REPENT, the End is Near!" Now that may not be too far from the truth. But I find that people really don't know what repent means. Repent(ance) is the act of a contrite heart, a heart that is truly sorrowful for all the trouble that it has caused God and people over the years. It is also a total conversion, in that you turn from your trouble causing ways and commit yourself to never hurt anyone again. Look at it this way, if you are walking south, you do a complete turn around and walk north. If you are sinning, you stop and start doing good! If you stole, you stop stealing and try to make restitution for past thefts.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

You can't work your way into a state of righteousness. It just can't be done. There is too much sin, disobedience and garbage in our lives, that no matter what we do, we'll never be able to make up for the past indiscretions. So going to church every Sunday, tithing, and praying on the street corners in sackcloth is not going to do it. Giving all your goods to the poor is not going to do it. Volunteering at the hospital is not going to do it. As a matter fact you just can't work your way out of the mess or troubles you are in. You can only fall on the mercy of God!
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God states in His word that it is through His GRACE (unmerited favour) that you are SAVED (forgiven and redeemed from your sins) through YOUR FAITH. In other words your belief in Him (faith). You can't do it yourself, as much as you would like to try. Your salvation is a GIFT from God, and a Gift is FREE. You can't buy it! You can't trade or barter for it! And you definitely can't WORK for it, otherwise it wouldn't be a gift. If you could work or buy your way into eternal salvation, a lot of rich people would make it, and the poor would be left behind. And, Yes, they would definitely stand on the street corners and boast of their piety and purity. The problem is that people do not know what to do, or even how to accept this FREE GIFT from God. It's sitting there, but humankind, is dumbfounded and highly suspicious, figuring there has got to be some strings attached. So their lives continue going down the tubes, because they don't reach out and accept the heavenly gift, thanking God profusely for it!

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Now you have all heard the question "Why do the good die young?" or "Poor so and so, she was so young, why did she have to die, why couldn't that old sinner die instead!" Well God is not slack concerning his promise of salvation and eternal life. The good, when they have fulfilled their journey or mission on this planet, be it short or long, are taken home! Now the old codgers, their lives just drag on and on, because God is still waiting for them to repent and change their ways and come into the fold. So it doesn't matter how old or decrepit you are, GOD IS STILL WAITING! So what are YOU waiting for?

1 Corinthians 1:21
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Now even the wisest of people will have a hard time to get into heaven, because they are educated beyond their intelligence, and they try to reason out every little nuance, and put it all to scientific tests. Sorry, it can't be done that way. The wise in all their foolishness, cannot see what a child knows and accepts as gospel. A little child knows the right way and accepts the concept of God without hesitation, until he or she grows up and is totally ruined by the adults. That includes the examples that the parents are showing their children by their daily actions. Little by little the child is desensitized to the sins of the world, and his or her conscience is seared (burned shut) by the disobedience and iniquity (lawlessness) of the world. Carry this further, when a young person decides to enter Bible College, to learn how to better become a man or woman of God, with the light burning in their bosom, and after 2 to 4 years of this, the fire that was in them has been totally driven out by overzealous professors that have lost their own way.
James 1:21
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

So, God entreats us to lay all the dross of our sorry lives, and come unto Him for a much needed rest, all by listening and receiving His word into our, hearts, minds and souls, for that eternal rest called Salvation.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This verse is so self explanatory, so speak it out and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! Don't even think about, just yell it out, "GOD, I BELIEVE, SAVE ME!"

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Could you give your only son or daughter up to be killed, just so that another person might have a chance of life? I doubt it, I know I would have a very hard time, and my heart goes out to Abraham who had the faith and strength to take God at His word to the point of raising his knife to kill his only begotten son. God did that for YOU! He gave His Son so that you might live. Now if you want to spurn that gift, so be it!

Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

It's really quite simple, Nanibijou, Bhudda, Confucius, Mohammad, Allah, Aliens, Elvis, the President of the United States or any other deity whether of fire or water is not going to get you into heaven, much less saved. There is no other name but Jesus Christ's, that CAN save you!

Let me relate a little story, and set the scene by saying that I accepted Jesus as my personal Saviour when I was 11 years old. I was not churchified, never having attended church as a child. My parents didn't and I never thought anything of it. Around the age of 10 the public school I attended decided to invite the local ministers of all the churches into the school and they were allowed to hold one class of religious education every week. The Catholics would go into the Catholic Class and the Lutherans to Lutheran class and so on. Well I didn't know where I belonged so the first week I went to the Catholic class and the next week I went to the Lutheran class and next week to the Baptist, and so on. This all happened to the consternation of my parents, who all of a sudden was visited by all these different ministers, all trying to add another family to their rolls.

During the summer of my 11th year, I heard of this Bible Camp (Dorion Bible Camp in Northern Ontario) run by the Canadian Sunday School Mission, and after much finagling, my parents sent me for a week. During that week, one morning in the chapel, the counsellor who was running that morning service, asked if anyone wanted to accept Jesus Christ into their heart, "With all heads bowed, indicate your acceptance by raising your hand." Well I raised my head and looked around to see what this was all about, and saw various hands up, so I raised my hand. A short prayer was held for us and that was it. There was no follow-up or any other counselling. The week ended and I went home. Now I didn't get any formal training to further my youthful Christian education, and to this day I thank God for not letting me be brainwashed or indoctrinated into any particular denomination.

BUT, I believe from that point on, God kept His hand on me and watched over my every step along life's way. I can look back now, and see the Master's hand in every facet of my life. After Bible Camp I entered my teen years and went my own willful way, travelling all over Europe, Coming back to Canada, and getting married, having four children and building up a business. I sold my business to my brother, and went back to University to get a Law Degree.

During my University days, the friends that we hung around with were pretty much what I would call atheists and the University environment lent itself to this outlook on life.
One of the classes that I was enrolled in was with a History professor, a self-avowed atheist, who not only spouted the communist ideology, he actually listened on his Heathkit shortwave radio, to Radio Cuba and Moscow every day. So during this semester, our friends would come over to our place and we would sit in the living room studying and discussing the latest nuggets from academia.
This one evening as my friend and I were discussing the Big bang theory of evolution, the kids (three) were in bed and my wife Pat was quietly sitting in the corner reading. We were enthusiastically going over all aspects of Evolution, when I noticed that Pat was getting a little miffed because she was being left out of the conversation. So I asked her, "Well, where do you think everything came from." And she quietly said "God created it." My friend and I looked at each other and turned around and continued our discussion, ignoring my wife for the rest of the evening.

What she had said irritated me, but I didn't have a pat answer that would put her in her place, to show her how little she really knew.

The next day, in our atheistic History professor's class, I stood up and acting very smart said, "What do you say to someone, when asked where man came from and they say "God created him.'" The class fell deadly still as all eyes turned to the prof, waiting for his venerated reply.

The professor looked me straight in the eye and said: "How do you know he didn't?"

As the class burst out laughing, I sheepishly sat down, my face turning crimson in anger, having been made an utter fool.

The class resumed, and our thesis assignments were handed out, that is all except mine. The bell rang, and everyone headed for the door, and I headed for the back of the room, to try to get out and avoid the professor. As I reached the door a voice rang out, "Egon, come with me to my office for a moment, I want to talk to you." It was my atheistic professor, and I couldn't avoid him. I grudgingly went down to his office and this is what he told me.

He wasn't trying to make a fool out of me or embarrass be in front of the class BUT he stated that the theory of evolution had been disproved a long time ago, but academia didn't have anything else to replace it with, so they kept teaching it. He further stated that he hadn't given me my assignment in class because he wanted me to research all the major world religions and come up with my own thesis. That was a tall order for one semester, but my atheism had all of a sudden come crashing down and my respect for the professor and his beliefs left a lot to be desired, so I accepted the challenge, more so for my own curiosity.

The professor had always said that if you had to research, it was no use looking at translations, you had to go back to the original manuscripts and find out what they said. I didn't have time to learn Hebrew, Aramaic, Sanskrit or any other language, so I had to settle for English books that detailed the aspirations and beliefs of each religion. To make a long story a little shorter, I found out that though all these religions had various gods, i.e. a god of fire, a god of water, a god of air, etc., each religion had a Primary, so called HEAD God. They also had accounts of the great world wide flood. Through all this one central theme reverberated, and that was they were all waiting for their God to come back to take them out of their misery.

In my research I discovered that the various religions and isms all had their roots in various other religions, and as I started to trace back their roots, I remembered the Professor's words that if you go back as far as you can and there is nothing left to see, then the first document had to be the original and the beginning of all the others.

My research led me to One God, the God of the Hebrew people.

Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

At that point I remembered my Bible Camp days, and feverishly hunted up my little white bible that I had purchased but never read. From that point on I called upon the name of the Lord and I was Saved!

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The WHOSOEVER in the above verse means YOU!
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

There we have that word REPENT again, which we know from the other verses, but we have a further clarification of God's plan. It states that YOU are to be Baptized in the name (the power and authority of) Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins. Now the word baptize comes from the Greek Baptizo, which means to be submerged under the water, NOT sprinkled. This act of faith of washing the whole body cleanses you from ALL your PAST sins, and in one fell swoop all past transgressions are wiped clean. God doesn't remember them anymore, and your sins in the Book of Life has duly been blotted out. Hallelujah! You are FREE from all condemnation. Now mind you the humans on this earth, may not be quite as forgiving, BUT you'll have to forgive them for their attitude. Now the ending of this verse is going to lead you into another exciting part of the Christian walk with God, the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

You can be baptized all you like BUT if you don't believe, it isn't going to help you at all. The Faith of belief in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is what is going to carry you above your worldly cares.

John 1:33
And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

John the Baptist, baptized Jesus Christ in the River Jordan, he submerged him and as Jesus rose out of the water the Holy Spirit descended on him, and from this point on it was Jesus Christ who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. A Holy Spirit baptism is a seal of redemption, from which no man, woman or devil can remove you. Not only does the Holy Spirit seal you, He also empowers you with the Fruit of the Spirit as well as the Gifts of Ministry, i.e. healing, prophecy, tongues, etc.

Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Enough said! You really do not have any reason to wait around mulling it over. DO IT NOW! You never know when it might be too late. The devil and his cohorts are trying everything to make sure that you don't end up walking through those pearly gates. I know a lady who enjoyed baptism so much that she was baptized every month. That isn't necessary, but I guess she worried whether she had sinned during the past month.

1 Peter 2:21
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

"In His Steps" is a book that chronicles the lives of a few select people who try to follow in His steps. It isn't easy and most of them lost all their earthly possessions. BUT what they gained was immeasurable, when compared to earthly riches.

Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

To deny yourself takes a lot of courage, and the world would call it foolhardy. But to follow, really, follow Christ you have to be ready to cast it all aside at a moments notice. Following Jesus means a total abdication of your own comforts, and YOU are not the primary focus anymore, others become the main reason for living.

Luke 14:33
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Now before you run out and give everything away, forsaking all that you have, study this verse carefully in the Greek. God wants you to forsake everything, but not necessarily to give it all away (unless of course He tells you to.) The Father, Son and Holy Spirit is looking for an attitude here. If you are ready and willing to give it all away for the Kingdom of God, you have no doubt passed the test. Again it is your attitude that counts, if you are selfish and want, want, want everything for yourself, and you are not willing to share it with others in need, you have missed the whole point of being a Christian. A Christian is a Steward of the things that he possesses. God has given you the things that you need to fulfill His plan for you. If you hold it back and hoard or store it for a rainy day, you may find that you'll lose it all anyway. God will take it and give it to someone who knows what to do with it for His Kingdom's sake.

John 15:1-27
1. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast [them] into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But [this cometh to pass], that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world (Greek rendering = AGE). Amen.

Here are YOUR marching orders, GO! TEACH! BAPTIZE!
Mark 16:15-18
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Your job now, as a Christian is no matter where you go in the world to proclaim Jesus Christ, heal the sick, and save the masses. Don't worry about the results, that's up to the Holy Spirit, and he can do a better job of it than you can. Your job is just to be the messenger, Jesus the message, and the Holy Spirit the power that backs you up.

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Now before you run off to Jerusalem, Judaea and Samaria, realize that the audience that is being spoken to here is in Judaea. To paraphrase this verse you must consider your town or city, as Jerusalem; your county or district as Judaea; and your next province or state as Samaria. In other words start from where you are, and slowly, branch out into the outlying areas. Don't worry, if God wants you to be an International Evangelist, he will present you with the opportunities. You will get calls asking you to come and share God's word. Abide and wait until you have DEFINITELY received the calling, and you are backed by all the power, anointing and unction of the Holy Spirit. To run ahead of the Holy Spirit is a waste of your time, as well as others. You may not have heard the saying "One strike with the Holy Spirit, is better than a Thousand strikes by yourself." When you move with the anointing, the fruit of your labours will be very prevalent. You will know, God will know and others will know.
1 Corinthians 12:1-31
1 Now concerning spiritual [gifts], brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body [were] an eye, where [were] the hearing? If the whole [were] hearing, where [were] the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where [were] the body?
20 But now [are they] many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those [members] of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely [parts] have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely [parts] have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that [part] which lacked:
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but [that] the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 [Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

The Body of Christ, or His Church is made up of INDIVIDUALS like yourself. Only individuals can become a member of His Church. You can't drag anyone into the Church, it is a personal thing between God and that man or woman. No parent can force his/her child to become a christian. You may have heard that God is a Father, not a Grandfather. You cannot be a proxy for your family or friends. BUT you can PRAY for them, every second of every day, pray, Pray, PRAY! Then when your spirit grows weary and you feel that you are not getting anywhere, and you cannot see any results from your prayers, HAND HIM OR HER OVER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT! And watch the results.

A few years back, the Holy Spirit brought 4 young people into our lives. None of them believed, but they were searching, looking for something better in life. After a few months of being with us, three of them accepted Christ as their personal saviour, but this one young lady wouldn't. She stated that she couldn't see what it was they had, and in any event she wasn't interested.

The other three and myself started having prayer every morning down at the church. The main topic of prayer of course was this young lady. After a couple of weeks of praying for this lady, one morning in the prayer meeting the Holy Spirit told me to just hand her over to Him and He would do the rest. I told the others, and we prayed and handed her over to the Holy Spirit. From that day forward none of us even mentioned or urged her to be saved.

A couple of weeks later, the church gathered out at the lake for an old fashioned baptism. The three young people had asked to be baptized and as friends had, of course, invited this young lady to share in their joy.

The three were baptized, while she looked on. After the Minister had finished, he off the cuff asked "Is there anyone else that wants to be baptized. "I do!" rang out a voice. Everyone turned to look and it was the young lady. Of course no one thought that she had even accepted the Lord as her personal saviour, much less her wanting to be baptized.

When questioned she told us that she had accepted the Lord a couple of weeks ago on her own. When questioned further as to the time we found that it happened the minute we handed her over to the Holy Spirit at our prayer meeting. When asked why she didn't tell us sooner, she replied because I didn't want Egon to think that he had 100% in getting them all saved.

We sometimes think that we are the only ones that can do anything for God, and what would God do without us. NOT SO! If we would just let the Holy Spirit work, we would see a lot better and quicker results.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed [the poor], and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether [there be] prophecies, they shall fail; whether [there be] tongues, they shall cease; whether [there be] knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity.

This is GOD'S PLAN OF SALVATION FOR YOU! Why don't you just take a moment and say this prayer or something similar from your own heart. Don't forget, Praying is just TALKING to God! So talk to Him now.

Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask that you please forgive my past sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Make me a better person and let your Holy Spirit lead, guide and instruct me in the paths of righteousness from this day forward. Use me in whatever capacity you can and I commit my life and all that I possess into your hands.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
